My-IUDF Gallery

Artwork and session notes from the IUDF bootcamp rooms.

Layered urban fabric used as a gallery still

The IUDF is the most important document guiding the future of SA cities and towns. The My-IUDF bootcamp takes us through 4 weeks of weekly sessions to become "IUDF-fit". The bootcamp is a chance to meet some of the most innovative minds thinking about urban transformation, link up with government partners and workshop how the IUDF applies to your life, work or industry.

Alongside the discussion, artist Nindya Bucktowar created images that capture the mood and themes of these sessions. The original register link for a later Zoom room is retired on this static archive. Use the session notes below, then move to Past Events for related conversations.

Session rooms

The focus of the first session was 'Re-Shaping our Cities'. Feeling inspired by the artwork? Catch up on the session themes here and in the festival video rooms.

The focus of the second session was 'City Storytellers'. Feeling inspired by the artwork? Catch up on the session themes here.

The focus of a further session was 'Government as a Partner'. Feeling inspired by the artwork? Catch up on the session themes here.

Those three rooms still explain why the gallery exists: the IUDF is easier to hold when a drawing sits next to the clause. Later civic-circuit write-ups on this site keep using that pairing (map, then mandate) when they talk about ward ledgers and street grids.
